Artists need other artists.
Come Talk Art was a series of six monthly conversations about art, in an informal setting at Medusa Bar, Geelong. Each event involved a conversation with an artist about contemporary issues — how do we collaborate with communities respectfully? How does AI art work, and is it coming for our jobs? How do you make contemporary First Nations practice, when commissioners only feel comfortable with dot paintings? What would a utopian arts funding model look like? Should social media platforms be paying us for our work? How do we allow children to be cultural citizens?
Come Talk Art was dedicated to cutting through arts jargon, producing a welcoming space for people to come, have a beer and chat in a way that dissolved hierarchies.
Thanks to our terrific speakers: Yuhui Ng-Rodriguez, Joel Carnegie, Dominic Redfern, Tanya Dickson, Mike Greaney and Steven Rhall.
